Watch the Video Open, Selection Tool, Save
Open, Scroll/ Pan, Manipulate Objects and Save
>>>>
Dowload right click >> Save image as… to download.
- Download the file Tree.svg. Then open
the file in Inkscape.
- Practice zooming in, zooming out, and panning.
- Click on the Selection tool in the tool box
. Or use the shortcut F1 . Now click on an object. You’ll see a rectangle with arrows around the object, to indicate that it is indeed selected.
- Try creating your own tree by dragging objects around with the Selection tool. Next use the buttons shown on the left, in the tool controls bar
. See how easy it is to rotate and flip?
- When you double-click on an object, notice how the tool automatically changes from Selection to the Node tool
. You’ll see the nodes – tiny gray squares or diamonds along the lines. Also notice that you can no longer move the image in its entirety. Now switch back to the Selection tool
.
- Click any empty area of the canvas to deselect, or use Esc key.
- Select a lemon and try the standard operations: Copy
and Paste
, and Cut
and Paste. Do you remember the key shortcuts?
- Save the file with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+S or File menu > Save As
. In the top section of that window, browse to your My Exercises folder. In the File Name field at the bottom, change the name to Exercise 1 Tree.svg. Leave all the other settings alone and click the Save button
.
- After this you can close Inkscape by clicking the X button in the top right corner
.
If you did that, but you had forgotten to save the file, a window would have popped up with a reminder, asking if you wanted to Close, or Cancel – meaning just continue drawing – or Save.
